Eiji Aonuma Teases New Zelda Through Swapnote (Maybe)

There’s always a new Zelda in the works, this much any Nintendo fan can tell you. But it’s always quite the surprise when a new tidbit or hint of a game’s development is revealed, which is exactly what Nintendo 3DS owners received via Swapnote this week from none other than series director Eiji Aonuma.

In the note, he asks 3DS owners if they enjoyed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and if they’re looking forward to more titles in the series. As you can see from the pic above, the Wizzrobe seems to be a bit more excited at the prospect of another Zelda game than the fairy to his left (your right).

While this isn’t an official announcement, it very well could be a tease of what’s to come in the next Nintendo Direct conference, scheduled for 6 a.m. PST tomorrow. What will be revealed then is anyone’s guess. But Aonuma has expressed interest in doing for Majora’s Mask what Nintendo did with Ocarina of Time. And, as always, each Nintendo console since the NES has had its own original Zelda title, so that could potentially be what we hear about tomorrow.
