The Unreal Engine 3 has landed on the iOS! Following the ridiculous debut of a RAGE tech demo running on the iPhone with mega-textures at 60 frames per second and looking great, Epic Games has released their own engine to the platform for developers to take advantage of beginning with the release of the Epic Citadel app to showcase what the mobile version of the engine will be capable of.

The app will be available for free starting today for download on the App Store and features a preview of the lighting, environmental architecture, texture systems, and animations of the newly available developer software which was created with the Unreal Development Kit. The Unreal Development Kit is also available for free here for those who want to begin experimenting with making their own games on this engine today.

Be sure to hit the break to check out some screens from the iPhone of Epic Citadel to feast your eyes on what you will be able to achieve making / playing games on the Unreal Engine 3 for iOS.
