Today, publisher Team17 and developer Mouldy Toof Studios announced that their prison-escape simulation game, The Escapists 2, is set to launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 22nd. Meanwhile, the game's Switch version will apparently come later and not launch simultaneously with the game's other versions.

Available to pre-order starting today via Steam and at select retailers (digital pre-orders are poised to arrive soon), The Escapists 2 will cost you $19.99. Further, if you do decide to go the pre-order route you will be awarded with access to an additional prison "The Glorious Regime."

For those unfamiliar with the premise of the series, in the The Escapists you're task is to escape a prison. But it's anything but a straightforward thing: as you will have to adhere to a strict prison schedule, avoid unwanted attention of guards,  craft weapons and tools from within the prison, and avoid cell shakedowns. While getting a job or performing favors for fellow inmates to purchase supplies and plotting escape routes you will also need to perform tasks such as working out to get stronger.

Unlike its 2015 predecessor (The Escapists), which according to Team17 is a "multi-million" selling game, you will have the option to play up to four players in both local and online play.
