Precursor Games has released a crowdfunding campaign video on their official website for Shadow of the Eternals, a spiritual successor to the cult hit Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, which came out for the Gamecube back in 2002. Shadow of the Eternals will be released for the Wii U and PC.
According to the video, the Precursor Games team decided to use the CryEngine 3 to run Shadow of the Eternals due to its particle effects, workflow and dynamic lighting, among other features.
Another topic discussed was the overall plot of the game; you play as Paul Becker, who is investigating a crime scene–a massacre at an abandoned asylum. There are only two survivors, both who have lost their memories and harbor murderous intent for each other, who give you their side of the story. Paul Becker must determine who is telling the truth. Like Eternal Darkness, this game also spans across hundreds of years to tell its story.
And finally, the team is offering a very cool tier reward: entrance into the “Order of the Unseen,” which allows backers to actually contribute to the content of the game.
So far, this game is really shaping up to be something special and I look forward to seeing a successful campaign. Go here to contribute if you’re interested in Shadow of the Eternals as well.
