Today, Paradox Interactive and Paradox Development Studio announced that the latest update to the critically acclaimed Europa Universalis IV will be arriving next month on April 6, 2017. This new expansion is titled Mandate of Heaven and will contain new gameplay events. Most notably, the major nations of East Asia, with new features surrounding the Japanese Shogunate, and the Celestial Empire will be featured in the add-on.

In addition, Paradox will be live streaming on Twitch tomorrow, March 14, to show off some of the new content that will be included in Mandate of Heaven. The stream will begin at 9:00 AM ET/6:00 AM PT so you may want to set your alarm clock a bit early if you want to catch it. You can find the stream here on the Paradox Interactive Twitch channel.

If you're unfamiliar with the Europa Universalis series, it's been around since 2001 and is one of the most highly regarded strategy series in gaming. Europa Universalis IV released in 2013 and has since received nine expansions to expand the game's life. Mandate of Heaven will be the tenth.

On a personal note, I have a handful of friends who almost exclusively play EU IV and nothing else. Even when I try to convince them to play another game, they typically stick with Europa instead. If you're a big fan of strategy games, this might be one that you want to check out. It'll definitely keep you busy for awhile.

Mandate of Heaven will retail for $19.99 when it releases and will be available for Windows, Mac, and Linux PCs. You can find more information or pre-order the expansion by going to the game's website.
