Paradox Interactive released a new video concerning the Europa Universalis IV: Mandate of Heaven today that details the expansion's features.

This update brings a new Ages mechanic to the title, which divides the years a game takes place into four ages, each of which have their own objective and abilities. Completing Age-specific objectives can earn player Splendor, which can be used to purchase new abilities that will apply for the rest of that age. Players can also enter a Golden Age, which will give them 50 years of great bonuses for their country.

This expansion also adds the empire of China, which will function similar to the HRE in Europe, and Confucianism as a religion. An Artillery Barrage has also been added, which at a great cost of military power, can be used to speed up the process of breaking down a fort's walls. A Diplomatic Macro builder that gives players a quicker overview of which countries are willing to accept diplomatic options with them.
