Event[0] Release Trailer Shows That AI Make Terrible Friends

Event[0], a retro-techno puzzler from Ocelot Society, continues to inspire awe with its latest trailer. The bulk of the video shows the player’s interaction with Kaizen, the insane AI of the ship and your only hope of survival. In standard sci-fi fashion, the spaceship Nautilus has become an inconvenient place to stay in and you must grapple with door puzzles, zero gravity spacewalks, and ancient computer terminals with an even older text parser to make it off alive.

Interacting with Kaizen makes up the majority of the game as the cold and manipulative machine controls everything on the station. You can ask it anything and judging from the trailer it will recognize a lot of what you type. It seems that at some points knowing  exactly what to ask in a sea of possibilities will be the only thing keeping you from death.

The graphics, lighting, and environments all look incredible for an indie game and the stylized use of retrofuturism gives flashbacks to Alien: Isolation, a compliment in and of itself. It’s a wonder that computers and security cameras always look so menacing when they’re older, obsolete models.

Event[0] is currently available for Windows and Macs on Steam and itch.io for $19.99 USD. DualShockers own Giuseppe Nelva wrote a preview worth checking out when Ocelot Society showed off the game at Gamescom. Will you be typing ‘Open the bloody door!’ any time soon?
