Everquest Next will be published in Europe by ProSiebenSat.1, and this led many European gamers to believe that they'd be locked on separate servers, unable to play with their North American friends (I will admit that I'm particularly sensitive about this myself).

Luckily Sony Online Entertainment head honcho John Smedley came to the rescue and clarified the issue for us via Twitter. While ProSiebenSat.1 will handle accounts and publishing, European players will play on SOE's servers like everyone else, and there will be no limitation in place on what servers to join.

There you have it, straight from the lion's mouth. If you're like me, and like not to be limited in your choice of servers, you won't. I really long for the day in which MMORPG servers will really become a thing from the past, and we'll all be able to play in a big shared world with millions of others.
