The newest installment in the formula racing series F1 2017 will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC August 25th according to its developer Codemasters.

F1 2017 will also see the return of the much requested classic Formula 1 racing cars to the series. Fans of the game have requested the feature for a while, and their wishes have finally been granted. In addition, the game's career mode has been expanded and a new mode called Championships has been added. No information on the new mode was announced, but it was promised to come soon.

Their will be twelve classic F1 cars included in the game, and Codemasters provided us with the first three today:

  1. 1988 Mclaren MP4
  2. 1992 Williams FW14B
  3. 2002 Ferrari F202

Of the above three, the 1988 Mclaren MP4 will initially be a pre-order bonus for the Special Edition. All players will have the option to purchase it individually at a later date. The remaining eleven cars will be available to all players regardless of which edition they purchase. Details on the Special Edition are also to come at a later date.

Codemasters' Game Director Paul Geal was excited about the inclusion of classic F1 vehicles, and offered a comment:

“Classics were incredibly well received when we included them in F1 2013, and in F1 2017 they are back and better than ever. With so many great cars to choose from, it was hard to decide on the final twelve, but we are delighted with our selection of some of the most successful and iconic fan favourites from the past 30 years.”

F1 2017 will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on August 25th, and more information is to come on the official blog.
