Fallout 4: Pip-Boy Edition Sold Out Again in North America; Phone Compatibility with Pip-Boy Revealed

During last week’s E3 2015 at the Bethesda press conference, many went wild (and immediately to their wallets) for the newly-unveiled Fallout 4: Pip-Boy Edition that, when combined with a special Pip-Boy app for smartphones, provides customers with their own functional Pip-Boy accessory from the Fallout series: however, it appears at the moment that time has run out once again for ordering more.

Earlier this week, Bethesda vice president Pete Hines took to Twitter, announcing that following the quickly sold-out initial run from E3 2015, more Fallout 4: Pip-Boy Edition bundles were made available this week at GameStop, Best Buy, and Amazon – to no one’s surprise however, they have once again sold out in both the United States and Canada.

In a new post on Bethesda’s blog, the company confirmed that North American quantities for the Fallout 4: Pip-Boy Edition are now sold out, while Bethesda is currently taking inventory of stock for European territories, with more information on availability in those areas coming next week.

Bethesda also provided in its blog post new information on phone compatibility with the actual Pip-Boy replica itself, and while the description doesn’t include every possible smartphone that will work with the Pip-Boy, it at least gives a good indication of what phones will and won’t work: unfortunately, larger-sized phones like the Galaxy Note or the iPhone 6 Plus are out of luck, leaving more moderate to standard-sized smartphones eligible for Pip-Boy goodness. Bethesda detailed in its blog post:

“We have new information on the phones compatible with the Pip-Boy Edition. The Pip-Boy included will have foam inserts that fit iPhone 6, iPhone 5/5s, iPhone 4/4S, Samsung Galaxy 5, and Samsung Galaxy 4. In addition, using the customizable foam insert you should be able to fit most other popular smartphone devices.  As we wanted to stay faithful to the dimensions of the in-game model, any smartphones larger than the models listed will not fit inside the wearable device.  For these larger devices, our Pip-Boy companion app will still be available.”

Fallout 4 will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 10th, 2015.
