Many think that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is just a remaster with higher resolution and a few improved textures over the PSP version, but that's definitely not true.

Considering the jump in generations and the passage from portable to home consoles, a limited remaster simply wouldn't hold up.

In order to show off the massive difference between the old PSP version and the new HD version PS4 and Xbox One, Square Enix released a brand new trailer pitching the two editions against one another.

The fact that the game doesn't quite look like a native current generation title makes it difficult to fully understand the improvement without a direct comparison, but the video below (which has been re-hosted, as it was blocked to countries outside Japan) show it beyond any reasonable doubt.

While obviously Final Fantasy XV will look quite a lot better, we have to applaud Hajime Tabata and his team for creating a remaster that is actually closer to a remake. I know many are still bent out of shape because it's not on PS Vita, but I'll definitely take this over nothing, and happily.
