Final Fantasy VIII is once again available for PC gamers, this time with its re-release via Steam. Two new features have been included with the game along with this re-release, including the Magic Booster and Chocobo World, an add-on that was previously released with past versions of the game. Steam has a full description of both new features, which you can check out below:

  • Magic BoosterWhen Magic Booster is used, the player’s inventory of the following spells is increased by 100:

Cure, Cura, Curaga, Fire, Fira, Blizzard, Blizzara, Thunder, Thundara, Sleep, Blind, Silence, Berserk, Bio, Esuna, Aero, Confuse, Break, Zombie

This feature can be used from the launcher.

  • Chocobo WorldThis version of FFVIII includes the full game “Chocobo World” that was released as a separate application for previous versions. It is possible to play “Chocobo World” directly from the launcher after booting up FFVIII and by fulfilling certain specific conditions in the main game you will also be able to synchronise data between the two games.

Final Fantasy VIII was released for the PlayStation in 1999, before being ported to Windows PCs in 2000. You can check out the game’s Steam launch trailer below.
