Cool your jets, haters -- you've got a long time coming before you can start whining about the Final Fantasy X HD remake, announced at E3 this past year. Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase spoke with German magazine M! Games and spoke briefly about the game, slated for release on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

According to Kitase, the game is still very, very early in its development stages. Although it is still unclear as to how heavily his hands will weigh in on the project, he expressed his desire to work on it so as to "ensure that the remake will have the same quality as the original."

Back in September rumors flew that what was announced as an HD upgrade would actually be a complete, full-blown remake, and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth from Final Fantasy VII fans everywhere. According to the grape vine, X would be remade using the engine for Final Fantasy XIII, with character design, stages, and even the Aeons all recreated from the ground up. Square Enix has yet to confirmed or deny this information, but it is worthy to note that M! Games has Kitase using the German word "neuauflage" -- which translate to "remake," "or "new edition."
