Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 2.16 Patch Brings Large Changes, Little Cosmetic Gems

on February 20, 2014 4:32 AM

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is still down for a 10 hour long maintenance, but the major 2.16 patch is already available for download if you want to get those 657.55 mb out of the way.

The patch comes with large functional changes – especially for the UI, several much demanded quality of life improvements like the ability to apply to free companies, a ready check for groups, a revamp of the pet system, the ability to preview the application of dyes before doing it, and waymarkers that will allow to set signs on the ground to show your party members where to go.

We also get small but lovely cosmetic changes, like the fact that now the breath of characters will turn into little clouds of steam in cold areas. Wet surface effects have also been added, so our characters will actually appear wet when it rains, when immersed in water, or when struck by water-based attacks.

With the beta of the PS4 version set to start in just two days, big things are coming for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. You can read the full patch notes here.
