If you love Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (and you very well should), Square Enix is preparing to celebrate the first anniversary of the game (which launched on August 27th) with a massive series of events spanning August and September.

On August 14th the traditional Moonfire Faire summer event will bring new and beautiful Yukata to adorn our characters, three for male characters and three for females, and if the icons and picture below are any indication, and they look really great.

August 15th will see the launch of "Tales from the Calamity," a mysterious "five-part series" that will probably brings big tears to the eyes to those of us that were actually there almost two years ago. The developers will also deliver messages starting on August 27th and Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida will sign autographs at Gamescom on August 16th.

On August 22nd at 8 PM PDT there will be a 14 hour-long livestream including the 17th Letter from the Producer live (at 9 PM), talk sessions with special guests, tips and tricks from the battle team, a 14-hour atma challenge, and more.

The collaboration events with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Dragon Quest X and Final Fantasy XI will also make a comeback for those that missed them, and there will also be a free login event that will span the period between August 22nd and September 1st, even if we don't yet know the conditions which will apply.

It's very possible that it'll be limited to those that already have an account and previously left the game like previous similar promotions, but for now it hasn't been specified. We'll keep you posted as soon as we receive further news from Square Enix.

Are you ready to celebrate the first anniversary of one of the most epic stories of stubborn tenacity and redemption in the history of the MMORPG genre? I definitely am.
