During the Letter from the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Producer Live broadcast at E3 Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida mentioned that contrary to what was announced a while ago, same sex marriage will be included in the game.

Players will be able to take part in the "eternal bonding ceremony" regardless of gender and race.

Apparently the team listened to the feedback on the issue that came from the game's very vocal community and decided to change its previous stance. It's not too surprising, considering how open to feedback Yoshida-san and his developers have always been, but it's still definitely good news.
