Just a month ago, during Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XIV had about a million unique users. Today the publisher sent a press release announcing that the game has now achieved over 1.5 million registered accounts in about two months (it’s specified that the figure represents the total number of accounts registered for the game from launch onward in all regions).

In addition to this the press release states that the much awaited major patch 2.1, that will bring a lot of content including housing, the PvP arena and multiple new dungeons, will be released this December.
