Final Fantasy XIV Samurai Job Rumor For Heavensward Expansion Debunked

on November 5, 2014 4:03 PM

During the livestreams of the North American Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Fanfest in Vegas a few weeks ago, eagle eyed users spotted a “Samurai” folder on the computer of the game’s composer Masayoshi Soken.

Obviously a rumor was immediately born, alleging that Samurai would be one of the new jobs coming with the newly announced expansion Heavensward, alongside the then teased and afterwards confirmed Dark Knight.

During an interview on Dengeki Online Soken-san himself mentioned that the folder is completely unrelated to new jobs, effectively debunking the rumor.

It stands to reason that a Japanese composer would have a “samurai” folder on his computer without it being necessarily related to a samurai job to be implemented his game, but considering the popularity of Samurai in Final Fantasy XI, it’s not so surprising that many so enthusiastically supported the idea.
