Yesterday, we have shown you the female character creation of Final Fantasy XV's multiplayer expansion "Comrades" directly from the beta. It's rather impressive, but of course the options to create males are no less extensive.

Like for females, you start by selecting two ancestors for your character to create a rough canvas for his appearance. In the beta only two are available, but it's very likely that more will be added. I even suspect - but this is just my speculation - that Square Enix might provide the current established characters of the game as available ancestors. .

Then you can customize pretty much everything through a nearly excessive number of sliders, from the proportions of basically every relevant body part, to each facial feature.

Colors can also be customized with many options, both for the character himself and for many areas of his outfit. To that you can add tattoos on full body or each arm, scars and different hairstyles. Ultimately, I think this is the deepest character customization I ever saw in a JRPG, and one of the most extensive overall.

Below you can check out the video and see what I mean for yourself (the video is recorded on PS4 Pro with the visual setting focusing on resolution). You can also see a couple of screenshots showing how the same created character looks in actual gameplay.

You can read how to download the beta client, and all the information provided by Square Enix, explaining the differences with the final product that will be released some time down the line. On top of that, today we learned that there is going to be a patch coming next week, and a second beta round.

Final Fantasy XV is currently available for PS4 and Xbox One, and the development team is still pushing the game with free updates (version 1.13 was released just a few days ago) and DLC, including the recently-launched Episode Prompto, and Episode Ignis, that will come in December. Major announcements are also expected to come at Gamescom in August.
