Final Fantasy XV's Cidney can definitely be defined a charming character, and Weekly Famitsu published a few screenshots showing off the technology that allows her skin to look realistic and smooth on the screen.

You can see the screenshots below, thanks to Twitter users Cadet and Ouji night.

The first pair of screenshots showcases the difference between Cidney within a pre-rendered cutscene (on the left), and rendered in real-time (on the right) thanks to the Luminous Studio engine. While there are visible discrepancies, the similarity between CG and real-time is stunning.

The second pair shows off the effect of pre-integrated skin shading, an advanced technique for rendering realistic skin in games. If you're curious on how it works, you can check out this Siggraph presentation by Eric Penner.  The screenshot on the left shows Cidney's face with the effect off, while the screenshot on the right has the effect on.

One thing is for sure: The team at Square Enix is pulling out all the stops to make the alleged (and yet unconfirmed) successor of old Cid look sexy.

Update: below you can see a another version of the second pair of pictures. It's a bit smaller, but the quality is much better (courtesy of tipster Rena Izumi).
