Back in March of 2010, Len Peralta gave himself the challenge of interviewing 52 Geeks in 52 Weeks and creating trading cards of each person interviewed. ThinkGeek has announced today that the release and availability of the first Geek A Week trading cards set, which is on ThinkGeek for $9.99. The first deck of cards is compiled of quite the set of well-known geeks such as musician Jonathon Coultron, tech hostess Veronica Belmont, nerdcore rapper MC Frontalot, G4TV hostess Webb, sci-fi author John Scalzi and many more. Additional sets will be released throughout the year until the full 52 trading cards are completed.

“Len’s project was an amazing celebration of geek culture,” says Jamie Grove, VP of Evil Schemes and Nefarious Plans at ThinkGeek.  “We’re immensely proud to be a part of it!”

The trading card sets are being released in 8-card sets, each 2"x3" card dipicting the interviewed geek as either character or their own "alter-ego" on the front and their "vital nerd stats" on the back. Alongside the launch of the first set of trading cards, Len Peralta and ThinkGeek are hosting eBay charity auction that starts today. many of the illustrated geeks have joined in on the event and have donated cool stuff like autographed products to benefit both EFF and Child's Play charities.
