Fix Your Faulty and Grinding Xbox One Disc Drive By… Punching It

on November 26, 2013 2:22 AM

Quite a few Xbox One units appeared in the wild with apparently faulty disc drives, but looks like a way to fix the problem does exist. Whether it’s a temporary placebo fix or a more permanent one, it’s unknown for now.

A new video appeared on the internet, courtesy of YouTube user dave d, showing how to get rid of the terrible grinding noise by… punching the Xbox One, operation that apparently realigns a gear of the drive and lets it read discs again, almost silently.

Of course this solution is in no way endorsed by Microsoft, so if you want to try it, you do it entirely at your own risk. DualShockers takes no responsibility for what you’ll do during your boxing match with your new console.

We still advise to send it back to Microsoft in order to get it properly replaced,  but if you really don’t want to, you can check out the video below.
