Many games promise a frame rate of 60 frames per second, but not many deliver it in a stable way, often dipping under the threshold during chaotic scenes.
Forza Motorsport 6 promises 60 FPS; but it also delivers a fully stable experience according to Creative Director Dan Greenawalt.
During a behind closed door presentation at Gamescom today, I asked him if the 60 FPS were stabled, and the response was firmly positive.
“Yeah, absolutely. This is a main part of building a game like this in particular: you can’t accidentally go sixty. You can’t start at thirty and go to sixty. You can’t reduce to sixty. You have to be sixty.
So as you develop the game, you have to be sixty all the time. You have to build your cars to be sixty. You have to build every piece of code to be sixty. And that almost becomes a religious, zealous mission for the team, to deliver an experience that never drops below, and we took that very seriously.”
Looks like there’s a silky smooth racing experience waiting for us in September. Personally, I really can’t wait.
