The recently announced Battlefield 1 takes place in World War I. Britain, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Germany, the United States, Italy and the Ottomans will all be featured in Battlefield 1 at launch.
You’re probably wondering where the French come into Battlefield 1. Turns out, the French will be added at a later date as part of a Premium expansion pack.
Speaking to IGN France, DICE’s Julien Wera explained why French forces would not be in the game at launch:
“To really do justice to the French army in multiplayer and, once again, to show a side that we’re not used to seeing, we have chosen to dedicate an entire Premium expansion with special treatment after the launch of the game.”
This seems like a weak excuse for content that should be in the game at launch being plucked out for DLC.
Battlefield 1 releases October 21 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. If you missed the gameplay reveal from EA Play, you can check it out here.
