In an announcement that couldn't have come on a more appropriate day, today is Friday, March 13th - and that means Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees is coming to town: more specifically, Mortal Kombat X.

In a new reveal trailer posted through the official YouTube channel for Mortal Kombat X, NetherRealm Studios confirmed that the infamous horror icon Jason Voorhees will be brandishing his machete and heading into the ring for Mortal Kombat X as a guest fighter, following in the footsteps of A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger in 2011's Mortal Kombat reboot.

Jason will be included with Mortal Kombat X's "Kombat Pack," a Season Pass-esque content pack that will include four total characters: Jason, two "Klassic Mortal Kombat Kombatants," and an additional guest character that has yet to be announced. The "Kombat Pack" will be included with the game's Kollector's Edition by Coarse, along with the Limited and Premium Editions of the game - the Kombat Pack will also be available separately for purchase for $29.99.

Alongside the additional characters, the Kombat Pack will also include a "Samurai Pack" with additional character skins - Ronin Kenshi, Samurai Shinnok, and Jingu Kitana, and additional skin packs with each character. The Samurai Pack of skins will be available to purchase at a later date.

Mortal Kombat X releases for PS4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android on April 14th, 2015 - the PS3 and Xbox 360 have experienced a delay and will release in Summer 2015. In the meantime, you can check out the reveal trailer for the game's incoming new guest fighter below, Jason Voorhees:
