It's an absolute travesty to see what's being done to the once celebrated Ninja Gaiden series. Since the NG name belongs to Tecmo and Team Ninja, it was obvious that the series would go on without the man that most gamers deemed responsible for the waves of critical and commercial success the series yielded, Mr. Tomonobu Itagaki, when he departed from those companies in 2008.Unfortunately, Ninja Gaiden 3 appears to be filled with things that Itagaki has always eschewed, such as QTEs and gimmicky motion controls.

Now we learn that the game won't feature dismemberments either, one of the things me and many fans of the series have always loved. Team Ninja has explained that decapitations and the like won't be returning because apparently they know what we want far better than we do. An employee said at Gamescom that "We don't think people want to see that anymore. They've already seen it." This is, quite simply, not correct, but it isn't like it matters. They'll make the game they want at the end of the day.

I just hope that Itagaki doesn't feel too much disgust when he sees what's happening to a series that he lead the way in reviving. The next thing we'll hear is that the game won't have ninja chicks with gigantic boobs. Repulsive. Ninja Gaiden 3 is due on HD consoles early next year, including the Wii U.
