Gamescom 2013: InFAMOUS Second Son’s Nate Fox: They “Improved the Heck” out of the DualShock Controller

on August 21, 2013 3:10 PM

During a behind closed door presentation of inFAMOUS: Second Son the new DualShock 4 and its new features like the touchpad and the built in speaker were showcased quite extensively (you’ll read more about it on my preview coming soon), and Game Director Nate Fox expressed great confidence in the precision and responsiveness of the new controller in the following Q&A session:

I can say that when Sony would ask us “hey, what do you want the new controller to do well?” The answer was “make sure than shooting people is as good as humanly possible.” Because it feels that 50% of games feature that aiming mechanic, so the controller has to be industry leader. It has to be terrific at it. They reacted by giving us much improved joysticks, with much tighter springs and better triggers.

I can tell you that DualShock 4 is a big improvement over the DualShock 3. They certainly improved the heck out of it.

…and having played with it quite extensively today, I can definitely tell you that he isn’t bragging.
