If I told you that GameStop recently listed a product called Gears of War Ultimate, what would you think it was? My first guess was that it had something to do with the hotly anticipated Gears of War 3, but MS has confirmed that this is not the case. The price of the item gives us some more information; it’s $30. A Microsoft rep confirmed the title’s existence, saying:
“We can confirm a forthcoming bundle SKU involving the Gears franchise, though this may not be the final SKU name, there are no specifics available at this time, except to say it will not involve Gears of War 3 or the beta.”
My next guess would be some variation of one of or both of the past Gears of War games. With a February 15th release date, it’ll be available a long time before GeOW3, which may release as late as holiday of this year. I can’t imagine that the release would contain both Gears of War and Gears of War 2 and enough additional content to warrant a repurchase at just $30, but perhaps my imagination isn’t wild enough. Anyone else wanna take a crack at this? Of special note, the GameStop link in the source appears to have been deactivated.
