GameStop President Predicts Low Inventory for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Until March

You listened to your gut and you didn’t pre-order a next gen console. You probably thought to yourself, “what the hell, I’ll wait for the hype to die down and casually pick one up at my leisure, right after the holidays.” Well, I’m sorry to say that it might not be so easy. And according to one retailer, you may just find yourself waiting a few months.

On the November 11th edition of ‘Sessler’s Something,’ host Adam Sessler details an exchange of words he had with Gamestop President Tony Bartel during his time as a moderator at the Gamesbeat Conference. According to Sessler:

He [Tony] felt quite confident that they [Gamestop] are fully sold out with pre-orders, and he does not expect that it will be very easy to even walk in to a GameStop and get a brand new console… he estimated that maybe until sometime around March.

Keep in mind that this is merely a prediction and Bartel can only base it on his knowledge of his own inventory (and pre-order) levels at GameStop. Luckily, they aren’t the only retailer stocking the PS4 and Xbox One this winter. But if you didn’t pre-order and you plan on getting your ‘next-gen on’ in the next few months, be prepared to be on the look-out early and often.
