Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford Comments on Borderlands 1 for Current-Gen, Port Depends on Success of The Handsome Collection

While remasters and re-releases have been cropping up more and more on current-gen consoles each month, the recently-announced Borderlands: The Handsome Collection perhaps may top them all with the limited edition remote-controlled Claptrap – though, curiously, the collection is missing the original Borderlands title, which Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchfork addressed this weekend.

Speaking on the upcoming release of The Handsome Collection, Pitchford spoke on the collection and the re-release of Borderlands on current-gen consoles, stating that it’d be awesome to get that on next-gen sometime. If The Handsome Collection is widely successful, that increases the chances that that investment can be made.”

Announced in the past few weeks, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will include remastered editions of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! along with a substantial amount of each game’s DLC, though Borderlands on current-gen consoles seems to rest on the success of the upcoming mega-collection.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection releases for PS4 and Xbox One on March 24th, 2015.
