Gears of War Film Adaptation Shows Signs of Life

The often-rumored film adaptation of Gears of War could possibly be clawing its way out of development hell. The film has failed to reach any significant stage of production ever since its initial inception in 2007. A script written by Stuart Beattie is currently in the process of being shopped around to various producers by the Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

It is unclear when CAA – the agency that represents Gears’ developers, Epic Games, and Stuart Beattie – would like to production on the film commence. The last studio attached to the project was Legendary Pictures; the studio is also behind adaptations of games such as World of Warcraft and Mass Effect.

Gears of War 3 was released for the Xbox 360 last year, a prequel by the name of Gears of War: Judgment will be released next year.
