Rumors of a sequel to the innovative platformer Mirror’s Edge have been swirling about for years. Mirror’s Edge 2 was practically confirmed at E3 2011 and it would allegedly run on developer DICE’s powerful Frostbite 2.0 engine. Last year two developers claimed to have worked on Mirror’s Edge 2 in their Linked In profiles. In spite of all these implications, neither EA or DICE have said anything concrete regarding the Mirror’s Edge franchise in quite some time.
This latest rumor comes courtesy of Amazon Germany. The website added a listing for game software called “Mirror’s Edge 2” earlier today, but this listing has since been taking down. What’s more interesting is that the game was listed for Microsoft’s newly revealed Xbox One instead of the Xbox 360 or PS3. The listing even included placeholder box art for the game, which you can view below.
Like pretty much everything else that has been said about a Mirror’s Edge sequel, this is a rumor and should be treated as such until further notice. I’m extremely excited about the idea of Mirror’s Edge 2 on next gen consoles. Let’s try not to get our hopes up, though. We’ll keep you posted on any official developments.
