The highly-anticipated movie adaptation of Suzanne Collin's The Hunger Games comes out this week, and if you've got an iOS device you can carry a piece of the action around with you. Based on the book and movie, The Hunger Games: Girl on Fire is a playable prequel to the film developed by iPhone classic Canabalt's Adam Saltsman.

Girl on Fire is a quirky runner title featuring series star Katniss Everdeen. Players can make Katniss run, jump, and shoot her infamous bow and arrow at "swarms of Capitol-engineered tracker jackers," a type of venomous hornet. The app goes live this Thursday on the iTunes App Store, preceding the movie's official release on Friday.

What about a PlayStation 3 tie-in FPS starring Katniss and Peeta? Well, we're still waiting on that one.
