Bandai Namco Entertainment is certainly on a roll with anime-inspired games, and today they announced a new title based on the popular Girls und Panzer anime, titled Girls und Panzer Dream Tank Match.

The game will be released on PS4 in Japan this winter, celebrating the first episode of the animated film series Girls und Panzer das Finalethat will be screened in local theaters on December 8th.

The game, which will be an action title, is a follow-up to the 2014 PS Vita release Girls und Panzer: Master the Tank Road!

According to Bandai Namco, by moving on to a new platform with PS4, it'll be possible to "enjoy the girls and tanks action with beautiful graphics and a lot of powerful effects."

While no more information was provided, online gameplay will also be supported.

Girls und Panzer debuted in 2012 with a multimedia project involving manga, a super-popular anime series, and a light novel series, followed afterwards by a metric ton of other releases and merchandise (including some rather funny inflatable tank shells that will find their way in my luggage at some point, during one of my future trips to Japan).

The story involves an alternate universe in which World War II tanks are used for competitions between school-based teams of girls supported by giant carrier-like cities. It's a bit crazy, but certainly enjoyable.
