God of War: Ascension Appears on Amazon.com for Pre-Order

The God of War franchise has seen an increased amount of attention lately. Rumors have mounted that the series is going to see an installment unlike the recent HD remasters.

The most recent development is the addition of this, a pre-order page on Amazon with a 15-second teaser. An elderly woman’s voice mutters, “There was a time before Kratos became the monster known as the Ghost of Sparta.” The video ends with the trademark GOW logo and revelation of the official title; God of War: Ascension. The statement in the teaser all but confirms that this game will be a prequel; could it be the first of a trilogy? And if it is, will it continue on to any next-generation hardware we see in the future?

The God of War franchise has not seen a brand new installment since God of War: Ghost of Sparta, released in November of 2010. It has been even longer since God of War III, the most recent console-based installment, released in March of 2010.
