Following over a decade of work with the studio working on various titles and project, Sony has confirmed that Stig Asmussen has left Sony Santa Monica Studio.

After initial reports and rumors circulated around Asmussen’s departure from the company, Sony officially confirmed the news that he has left the company, following 11 years of work with the studio. Asmussen first joined Sony Santa Monica in 2003, working on God of WarGod of War II, and God of War III in various capacities and roles, eventually leading to his position as Creative Director on the third title in the trilogy.

Asmussen was initially reported to be working on a separate project at Sony Santa Monica at the time, having had no involvement with last year’s God of War: Ascension, but the secret project may have been cancelled due to recent layoffs at the studio – whether Asmussen’s departure was a result of this or on his own decision is unknown at this time.
