God of War III will be epic. I have no doubt in my mind, after viewing the recent screenshots, that the game will ultimately be nothing short of exceptional. But what is left for the series once Kratos puts a grotesque end to the Greek gods of Olympus? Why, more God of War games, of course.

In a recent interview with Gamervision, Sony Santa Monica director of project development John Hight revealed that the God of War series is set to continue after God of War III.

"This is not the end of God of War," Hight stated during a video interview "This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we're going to continue to do God of War games.

"We're going to be very careful about what we do. We're the keepers of the franchise and we don't want to see it ruined or polluted."

Damn right you don't, Hight. A lot of people are in the same boat you're sailing on there, bud. If anyone doesn't want to see the franchise go to crap, it is the abundant number of fans that have been following the series through its colossal releases. The question, however, is what is going to happen next? Will Kratos still be the protagonist of the God of War games in the future? Will there be another badass character introduced that will replace him in future adventures? The only people who know this are the folks over at Santa Monica Studios and Sony. Maybe they will continue the polytheistic massacre and introduce a new person who will be responsible for the destruction of the Egyptian gods; Or maybe take it back to Norse mythology and beat the crap out of Odin and Thor (too many gods in the Norse religion, though)...

Since Kratos is keen on brutally slaying mythological creatures and gods, maybe his future descendant will take up arms against the Leprechauns of Ireland and exterminate them - hence why they also no longer exist. There's a lot they could play with in terms of content for future games. I just hope they take the right direction. Then again, it's Santa Monica Studios, people.
