Gran Turismo 5 Shutting Down Online Modes, Giving One Last Big Event and GT6 Cars on May 30

Gran Turismo 5 has been one of the big online racers for the PS3 since its launch in 2010, and unfortunately the game’s online modes will be shut down in the near future – but, not without a big, glorious bang to send it off with.

Reports detail that Polyphony Digital will be capping off the shutdown of GT5 with their “Gran Turismo 5 Online Event Finale”  on May 30th, which will focus racers on two tracks (Top Gear test track and 24-hour Nurburgring track) in timed sessions.

During the event, players that register their lap times on both tracks and log into Gran Turismo 6 (using the same PSN account) will then be able to unlock several new cars for the more recent GT title, such as a 2009 Abarth Grande Punto, 2012 Tesla Motors Model S Signature Performance, and others. The offer will be available from June 2nd – June 29th, 2014.
