Grand Knights History Revealed, Looks Beautiful

In this week’s Famitsu, developer Vanillaware and publisher Marvelous Entertainment revealed an upcoming title they’re working on titled Grand Knights History. If you’ll recall, Vanillaware is the developer behind great titles like Odin Sphere and Muramasa: The Demon Blade. If you haven’t played those two, you really, really need to, as they’re some of the most beautiful titles out there. Yes, Odin Sphere is a PS2 title, why do you ask? It blows away most current gen games. Okay, quickie rant over!

I’ve included all the new screens and artwork for this PSP RPG after the break. Before you get to that, however, let’s take a look at the setting of this new title. Grand Knights History is set in the world of Ristia. There are three kingdoms in Ristia which players select from at the beginning of the game. The three kingdoms are Avalon, Logress and Union. As mentioned, this is an RPG, which is slightly different fare from the two titles I mentioned earlier (although they both have some RPG elements). You’re able to create your own characters and form a band of adventurers to travel the world and unravel the story. Battles are turn-based, so hopefully there’s some twist to spice them up a bit and make them stand out from the mold.

There will also apparently be some form of network play, although no specifics on it are known at this time. In fact, not a whole lot is known at all about this title, aside from the screens and artwork below. At least we know the art style is awesome, right? Grand Knights History is set for a Summer release in Japan, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that it will make its way across the Pacific.
