In March a mod group known as .White announced that it would be bringing the map from Red Dead Redemption to Grand Theft Auto V.

The mod was called “Red Dead Redemption V“.

The team behind the mod released a teaser trailer on Friday that was quickly taken down after the group was contacted by Take-Two Interactive.

White’s lead programmer commented on a forum post.

“I know this is hard pill to swallow, but as you may have noticed we did get contacted, and we sadly have to say we are stopping this project. So thanks guys, but it isn’t going to happen, sorry.”

They had planned on bringing the map from the Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption into GTA V and reworking it to make it look and feel more modern. .White hoped that they would be able to have a beta available by the Summer.

The saddest part is that .White had already invested  two years of their lives into this mod.

It’s not super-surprising that this happened though, seeing that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming later this year. Take-Two Interactive probably wants people to focus more on that as opposed to a mod for their already released game.

Below you can see some screenshots from the mod. Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year.
