During the latest conference call illustrating the financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year, Take-Two Interactive Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick mentioned that the company is is very pleased with the performance of Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles:

From an industry perspective, we’re very pleased with the performance of the new hardware to date, which has exceeded our expectations.

Consumer demands for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One appears to have been strong through the holiday season, with a combined installed base of these platforms exceeding 29 million worldwide by the end of December according to IDG estimates.

The ongoing success of next gen consoles underscores the vibrancy of the core gaming market, and represents a significant growth opportunity for take two.

Looks like publishers are looking at the strong performance of PS4 and Xbox One very positively across the board, which will probably lead to an acceleration of development adoption.  Hopefully we’ll be able to leave cross-gen titles behind soon enough.
