Groundbreaking Shenmue 3 Kickstarter Campaign Already Fully Funded; Gets $ 2,000,000 in Nine Hours

on June 16, 2015 6:34 AM

Just a nine hours ago, legendary Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki announced his Kickstarter campaign for Shenmue 3 at Sony’s E3 press conference.

The response from the fans was astonishing, and hundreds of thousands of dollars were donated in minutes.

The goal of the campaign was $2,000,000, and I’m glad (actually, “overjoyed” is closer to it) to report that said goal has just been achieved thanks to almost 25,000 backers, with timing that can only be defined a record.

Of course, this is just the beginning of the adventure, and there is still a month to go. If the beginning of the campaign is any indication, we might see the game getting the funding it deserves, and then some.

If you want to contribute to achieving the stretch goals below, you can pledge your support here.

Full Disclosure: I backed the game, and I’m damn proud of it.
