Activision wants to share that Guitar Hero has passed 2 Million fans on facebook, growing most recently by over 600,000 with the release of Warriors of Rock this past June. This alone isn't really anything I think anybody truly cares about knowing, but it does bring to mind how different things are today than they were even just a few years ago.

Social Networking sites like Facebook and Twitter have become larger than they've ever been in the past, and it seems like every person and company in the world has one. For example, most of the news posted about Super Meat Boy comes directly from the Team Meat official Twitter account. Even Black Ops has been receiving public support from JD2020, the Twitter account for Josh Olin, the Black Ops community manager who answers questions about upcoming patches and rumors.

Taking a look at the Guitar Hero Facebook page, they seem to be posting some good music news and rumors in addition to DLC updates and Twitter contests, which while not quite on the level of Team Meat or Josh Olin is definitely far better than a company run site that's nothing more than a non stop PR machine.
