So far 343 Industries and Microsoft showcased mostly Halo 2 Anniversary to promote the Halo: The Master Chief collection, but yesterday members of the press got a little behind closed doors sneak peek on how the remastered version of Halo 3 looks like.

Not only it looks really fantastic, despite not having received "the full Anniversary treatment" since the original graphics were much more modern than those of Halo 2, but the 343 Industries rep on site explained some of the differences with the original.

The game plays so much smoother and so much faster at 1080p and 60 frames per second, but resolution isn't the only thing that has been changed. Extensive work has been done on the lighting model and on the shaders in order to modernize the game's looks.

The foiliage and the water also benefit greatly from the higher pixel count.

Unfortunately no footage for public consumption was released, but 343i promised that they're going to show it down the line.
