Grab the guitar, set-up the mic, and hit the drums - according to new reports, it may be time to take the stage once again with a brand new iteration of Rock Band.

Reports from Bloomberg Business report that following a series of rumors of developer Harmonix Music Systems' interest in creating a new version of its beloved music franchise, a new game is reported to be in development by the studio for current-fen consoles, with a source close to the studio citing internal plans to revive the franchise.

The final game in the series, Rock Band 3, released for last-gen consoles in 2010, followed by the release of the spin-off Rock Band Blitz in 2012 and the end of DLC support for the games two years ago. However, several surveys released within the last year from Harmonix showed interest in the studio developing another title, and just this week new DLC songs for the previous Rock Band games cropped up again, showing that the series may come back for an encore.

Stay tuned for information on a current-gen release of Rock Band as news develops.
