Have Your Very Own French Vinyard With Wine Tycoon

That’s right, folks, there is now a game that lets you run your very own digital French vineyard and make your own wine.  I’m somewhat of a wannabe wine connoisseur, so when I saw this title flash across my screen it immediately caught my attention.  The game is developed by Virtual Playground and is going to be published by Got Game Entertainment here in North America.  Never heard of the title?  Not surprising.  Its a PC-only release scheduled for October.  But, hey, if you’re into that sort of thing, the price isn’t bad.  You can pre-order now for $19.99.

The box carries the slogan, “From plant to pick to press to pour, run your very own French vineyard!”  So indeed it does seem that Wine Tycoon simulates every part of the wine-making process.  Interested in more?  Hit the jump to read about some of the game’s features.

  • As in reality, each wine region has its own unique style and flavor, not only in appearance, but also in the different traditional grape varieties grown and the wines made.
  • Two levels of game play  – Career and Free Play, both with a tutorial for those who want it – allow you to patiently develop your skills or roll up your sleeves and jump right in with just the funds to start a vineyard from scratch.
  • Interesting and informative bonus Wine Encyclopedia with a glossary of wine terms and concise descriptions of French wines, grape varieties and wine regions.
  • Combination of enchanting French atmosphere, authentic winery operations and outstanding game play pairs perfectly with wine lovers and gamers alike.

I think its excellent that, not only have they developed a game about running your own winery, but they have included an encyclopedia and glossary to help you learn more about various wines in general and French wines and regions specifically.  This might be a game to check out if you’re into wine and have some free time on your hands.  It seems like one of the most interesting simulation games around.  The Sims, eat (or drink!) your heart out!  Check the screen shots of the game below.
