While sitting here at my desk, staring at the cast list of Super Mario Bros. on IMDB.com. I started to think two things... One being: "Did they cast the wrong Mario in the live-action film?" And secondly: "Is this the only live-action film portraying our favorite little plumber boy?" And the answer to these two questions are "Yes! Abso-freaking-lutely!" I'm sure that many of you have been thinking these very questions yourself since 1993; the year of the live-action film's release. As you should know, Bob Hoskins stars as Mario Mario.

As I was scanning through the rest of the cast, I saw an image of Richard Edson -- who played Spike in the film. To my surpise, I noticed that Richard Edson resembles our favorite 'shroom-ingesting plumber, Mario. Richard Edson is a character actor and you may remember him from films like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Jury Duty, Platoon and lastly one of my personal favorites, Howard the Duck. Who knows, maybe he could have a been a better Mario Mario than Bob Hoskins.

Sorry, Bob. But, you were casted in the wrong role, maybe even the wrong film. I do hear that you felt Super Mario Bros. was your biggest let-down. I'm going to have to say "not quite." That was Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties and your latest stint in made for TV films. Meh, I guess we have to make a living somehow...

Now, if there were to be another Super Mario Bros. film in the future, who would you cast?

[P.S. If you couldn't tell: I horribly photo-chopped Richard Edson's face over Bob Hoskins. Oddly enough, it only slightly resembles Edson.]
