A post by the development team on the Planetside 2 forums has revealed all of the new changes, bug fixes and Halloween event coming to the game in tomorrows update.
The highlight of the update is clearly the Nanite of the Living Dead event for Halloween. Apparently some student genetically modified ‘space pumpkins’ for testing, but accidentally had them sent down to Auraxis where they have taken root and rapidly grown. It’s up to you and your fellow soldiers to destroy the pumpkins, collect their seeds and drop them off at space pumpkin seed drop off zones to earn rewards.
There are a variety of seasonal masks to be won and the pumpkin event can spring up during ‘pumpkin hunt’ alerts throughout October. During the event there will also be strange new properties in sticky grenades and mines, outposts will be have frightening new names and other rewards to be earned.
Other major changes include a redesign in weapon optics for all 1x, 2x, 3.4x and 4x sight reticles. The optics will now be drawn dynamically instead of static geometry, giving a more accurate representation of where you are actually shooting while moving. It’s sure to be an otherwise unnoticeable tweak that can make a serious difference to how the game plays.
