With the official release for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days just around the corner, Square Enix is continuing their heavy promotional push for this Ninten–tasticish throwback with another clip from their anticipated sequel featuring …. wait for it …. their co-op mode.
In a gaming era where many titles are judged by their cooperative play (or lack thereof), Kane & Lynch 2 looks to bring a different, if not original (or as original as a sequel can be), feel to third-person multi-player in a gritty backdrop with enough unsavory characters, crude dialogue and bullets flying to make Quentin Tarantino proud ala True Romance.
With Dog Days’ predecessor, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, having had mixed success, Square Enix and developer IO Interactive are all but acknowledging that their co-op mode may ultimately determine the viability of a franchise that, if successful, will put the cojones back into gaming. Here’s to hoping this game comes out more Reservoir Dogs and less Jackie Brown.
