Update: interviewed by the Taiwanese media at Taipei Game Show, Brand Development Director Ken Schramm clarified that there won't be multiplayer in the game, labeling the wording described in this article as either a mistake on the official site or indicating something different from actual multiplayer gameplay.

The presence of an online multiplayer mode in inFAMOUS: Second Son has been rumored for a while due to a "Online Players: TBC (To be confirmed)" mention in a brochure distributed around the latest E3, and today another very explicit clue was dropped with the opening of the official Japanese website of the game.

As most Japanese sites dedicated to video games the one for inFAMOUS: Second Son includes a summary of it's specifics at the bottom. You can see it below.

The highlited part, "オンライン:対応," means "Online: Supported." Games that don't have a multiplayer feature like Knack don't include that mention. The number of players is listed as "1," but that's not really relevant as often that part refers only to the single player mode. Killzone: Shadow Fall has the same label, and it definitely supports online multiplayer.

While it's quite interesting that just two months before the release of the game we still haven't heard any confirmation (or explicit denial) from Sucker Punch of the presence of an online multiplayer feature in the game, the mention on an official Sony website is quite a big hint.

Alternatively, the label could indicate an editor for levels to be shared online like the one we have seen in inFAMOUS 2, which would be equally sweet.

Of course it could also be a mistake, so we should take this with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made. In the meanwhile you can enjoy the spectacular "Super Powers" trailer in Japanese, launched with the website.
